FAQs about screw compressors with variable speed drive and dryer
Why is it important to incorporate a refrigerated dryer into the compressor?
When air is compressed, the moisture present in it concentrates and condenses into liquid water. This moisture can damage pneumatic tools, contaminate production processes, rust pipes, and cause breakdowns in valves and actuators. The refrigerated dryer reduces the air dew point to +3°C, removing water before it reaches the distribution network.
What is the advantage of equipment with an integrated variable speed drive and dryer compared to installing them separately?
The integrated pack takes up less space, simplifies wiring and installation, and ensures that the compressor and dryer are perfectly sized for each other. Furthermore, centralized control allows for monitoring the status of both units from a single panel, facilitating fault diagnosis and production data logging. Everything comes factory-tested and ready to connect.
Does the integrated dryer consume a lot of additional electricity?
Not significantly. Refrigerated dryers in the JENDER range use a refrigerant cycle with a low-power hermetic compressor. The dryer’s consumption typically represents less than 5% of the total consumption of the set, while the savings in repairs, rework, and production downtime caused by moisture far outweigh that additional expense.
Does the integrated refrigerated dryer require its own maintenance?
Maintenance is minimal. It basically consists of periodically cleaning the dryer’s condenser (with compressed air or a brush) to prevent dust accumulation that reduces efficiency, and verifying that the automatic condensate drain is working correctly. These points are checked during the standard preventive maintenance of the compressor, without the need for additional interventions.
What ISO 8573 air quality does the equipment with variable speed drive and dryer provide?
With the integrated refrigerated dryer, the supplied air reaches ISO 8573-1 class for moisture, with a pressure dew point of +3°C. For applications requiring more demanding classes (food, pharmaceutical, electronics), the equipment can be supplemented with additional filters or an adsorption dryer. Contact us and we will recommend the most suitable solution for your process.
Can the compressor with variable speed drive and dryer be installed outdoors or in high-temperature areas?
JENDER equipment is designed for ambient temperatures between 5°C and 45°C. For outdoor installations or in enclosures with higher temperatures, it is advisable to protect them from direct solar radiation and ensure adequate ventilation. In very hot climates like the Mediterranean, the performance of the refrigerated dryer may be affected if the temperature exceeds its design limits, so we advise you to consult us regarding the location before installation.
